520 3    |a This book is composed of a variety of open educational resources (OERs). We have adapted the content to meet the needs of our program. As our students come with varying levels of English, you may further need to expand upon concepts. The following websites have PowerPoints and activities that can be used to supplement this book: ● Off2Class.com ● ESLflow.com Each chapter consists of three sections based around a communication goal. Within each section, there is a variety of content: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, listening, and speaking. There are also pragmatic language structures built into the book. Reinforcing these structures throughout the course will help students with culturally appropriate language. The grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation are incorporated to help increase listening comprehension and speaking fluency. Remember to focus on how these help build oral communication. Because the pronunciation in this book focuses on features to improve fluency, you should also incorporate more targeted sound discrimination and production into your lessons. In addition to using this book, please also use our pronunciation program within the computer lab. There is a sound scoring sheet sample in this book. If you need assistance with how to assess sounds, please reach out to the chair.
